Three Chicago Blackhawks prospects will play for Canada against Czechia in the gold-medal game Friday at the 2023 IIHF World Junior Championship.
Defensemen Nolan Allan ('21 first), Ethan Del Mastro ('21 fourth), and Kevin Korchinski ('22 first) will suit up for host Canada. The game is scheduled for 5:30 PM CT on Friday at Scotiabank Centre in Halifax.
Del Mastro had the primary assist on Canada's opening goal in a 6-2 win against the United States. Czechia defeated Sweden 2-1 in overtime.
The Blackhawks are the worst team in the NHL, giving them a chance to select Canadian forward Connor Bedard. The projected generational talent and first-overall pick had a goal and an assist against the United States.
If the Blackhawks do not get the first pick to draft Bedard, fellow Canadian forward Adam Fantilli could be in play. The Chicago Steel alumnus also had a goal and assist in the game, too.
Chicago Blackhawks forward prospect and Sweden team captain Victor Stjernborg (2021 fourth) will play the United States in the bronze-medal game. The game is slated for 1:30 PM CT.
