Is a trade coming soon for former Nuggets champion?
Bruce Brown. John E. Sokolowski-USA TODAY Sports

One former Denver Nuggets champion may soon be getting traded for the second time in less than six months.

Doug Smith of the Toronto Star reported on Friday that the Toronto Raptors are expected to trade forward Bruce Brown “quickly,” likely around the time of the NBA Draft in June, rather than waiting until the 2025 trade deadline. Smith adds that the likeliest scenario is for Toronto to pick up Brown’s $23M team option for next year and then immediately look to move him.

Brown, 27, was one of the top role players on the Nuggets last season as they won the NBA title. His defense, rebounding and three-point shooting off the bench helped plug many holes for Denver en route to their championship run. But Brown left to sign with the Indiana Pacers in free agency last summer and then was traded to the Raptors in January.

Toronto would indeed be wise to move Brown, who averaged 9.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game last season. He has a skillset that any contender would love to have but no longer fits in with the rebuilding Raptors, who need to find playing time on the wing for the likes of RJ Barrett, Gradey Dick and Ochai Agbaji instead.

When it comes to potential suitors for Brown, it is worth noting that he recently expressed interest in joining one particular playoff team with abundant assets to offer.
