Golden State Warriors Rumors: Jonathan Kuminga is Off-Limits in Trade Talks During 2024 Offseason, According to ESPN Expert
Sam Navarro-USA TODAY Sports

The Golden State Warriors have a lot on their plate this offseason, as they have to decide whether to run it back with the same squad or disband their championship core.

Other than deciding on the futures of Klay Thompson, Chris Paul , and Andrew Wiggins, the Golden State Warriors will also have to think about Jonathan Kuminga’s future with the team since he has been linked in trade rumors lately.

ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne recently guested on 95.7 FM’s The Game to analyze Kuminga’s immediate future with the Golden State Warriors.

“Not at all,” Shelburne said about the Golden State Warriors’ interest in trading Jonathan Kuminga. “I think he’s pretty much — look, it’s gonna get complicated because of his extension talks and how much money they have but I think they’ll do everything they can to keep him. I mean, I don’t think they want to even talk about him.”

“There’s some other good young players on the team outside a Kuminga. They have draft picks, they have Wiggins, and they have Gary Payton II. They have a lot of a lot of options there. They have a lot of optionality and decent contracts. And then there’s also the blue chip, which is Chris Paul,” she added.

Jonathan Kuminga had a breakout campaign for the Golden State Warriors

After playing a limited role in his first two seasons with the Golden State Warriors, Jonathan Kuminga has had an MIP-caliber year in 2023-24, averaging career-highs of 16.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game on 52.9 percent shooting from the floor in 74 regular-season games (46 starts). He was the team’s third-leading scorer behind Steph Curry and Klay Thompson.

He is eligible for a contract extension this summer since his rookie deal is set to expire after the 2024-25 season. Extending and keeping Jonathan Kuminga is appealing to the Golden State Warriors since he is a huge part of their future.
