UFC’s Ian Garry Challenges Colby Covington To ‘I Quit Match’
Bob DeChiara-USA TODAY Sports

Ian Garry has clapped back at Colby Covington’s latest call-out.

The third time wasn’t the charm for Covington as he fell short of UFC gold once again, suffering a decision loss to UFC Welterweight Champion Leon Edwards at UFC 296. However, the former interim champ isn’t done yet as he chases a fight with a rising star.

Covington Blasts Garry

Covington’s never been known to hold back in his trash talk and it showed as he lashed out at fellow controversial contender Garry as well as his wife, Layla, in a recent video. You can watch it below.

‘Chaos’ disparaged Garry in every which way, citing the Irishman had to follow through on three wild stipulations in order for them to fight. That includes turning back on the comments for his social media, Garry’s wife convincing Covington and the public why the fight should happen and lastly her being in a betting ad with him.

Garry: ‘You Should Be Focusing On Me’… Not My Wife

Garry isn’t having none of this, adding on to the war of words in a video of his own.

“Listen here, Colby ‘Chaos’ Covington, you are in no position to tell me what I should be doing in life. You’ll do as you’re told,” Garry responded. “You gave me three stipulations, all of which had nothing to do about fighting, but we’re all talking about my wife. I don’t know how you were raised, but women aren’t property and my wife definitely ain’t no trophy. You should be focusing on me. I’m the one who’s in that octagon with you. I’m the one who’s gonna punch a hole in your head. So stop swerving me and keep Layla’s name out your mouth.

“You are not America’s favorite fighter. What you are is a peak underperformer. You’re the only person in UFC history to lose three world title fights and you haven’t got a single win against anybody in the top 15 right now. So Colby, why should I fight you?”

‘The Future’ Adds A Stipulation

If bragging rights weren’t enough, Garry says the loser of their fight should have to retire from fighting forever.

“I can think of one reason: I challenge you to an ‘I quit match’ where one of us has to say, ‘I quit’. And whoever says the words ‘I quit’ has to retire. Gloves off, center of the Octagon, sayonara my friend.

“I am gonna be the final chapter in your legacy of failure,” Garry vowed. “I am going to rid the UFC of Colby Covington for good and I am gonna make MMA great again.”

Ian Garry echoed a similar message for Covington, following his latest win over Geoff Neal at UFC 298.
