Can Anybody Stop Alex Pereira?

Alex Pereira made short work of Jamahal Hill in the UFC 300 main event. When the Chicago native tried for a strike against the champ in the first round, “Poatan” unloaded a barrage on Hill. Suddenly, “Sweet Dreams” was, well, experiencing sweet dreams, lying on the ground as Pereira pummeled him into oblivion.

With a patient fighting style triumphing yet again, “Poatan” executed a perfect counter, racking up another victory. With Hill lying on the floor, Pereira showed his body of work to the roaring UFC 300 crowd. T-Mobile Arena witnessed what the Brazilian fighter is capable of.

Can Anybody Stop Alex Pereira?

Alex Pereira is a force to be reckoned with. Before his first-round knockout of Hill, he took care of business against Jiri Prochazka at UFC 295. In that fight, he knocked out the Czech fighter in the second round by… punches. That was the same story at UFC 300, where “Poatan” disposed of “Sweet Dreams.”

Pereira has expressed interest in fighting in the heavyweight division. However, he might have to face off against Jon Jones, who’s the division champion. If Jones can avoid trouble in his latest allegations, he’ll be waiting for “Poatan.”

Otherwise, fighters such as Alexander Volkov and Ciryl Gane can give him a hard time. Alex Pereira is a tough fighter to crack, waiting for his opponents to make the first move. However, a well-timed strike and wearing him down can make life tough.

Pereira’s Fighting Style

When fighting Pereira, expect him to look for an opening. He did that with Hill, waiting for him to open up so he could unleash. It worked in spades, leaving the Chicago native on the ground.

Waiting for your opponent to move is commonplace for the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion. Why make a mistake swinging when you can wait for your opponent to swing?

Anyways, Alex Pereira has staying power in the UFC. The 36-year-old’s kickboxing style will be tough to crack, with numerous fighters falling before him. But will the heavyweight transition do him in?
