USC Football: Trojans Star Safety Announces Entrance Into NFL Draft

The USC Trojans have been doing a ton of work to put together a new defense for the 2024 season. They brought on D'Anton Lynn as the new defensive coordinator, Mike Entz as linebackers coach, and Doug Belk as defensive backs/assistant defensive head coach.

They have also been getting some huge talent via the transfer portal, as both Kamari Ramsey and John Humphrey have also come over from UCLA.

Despite the new additions that should immediately make an impact next season, the Trojans are also losing a stalwart safety to the NFL Draft.

Redshirt senior safety Max Williams has announced that he plans to enter the NFL Draft, ending his five years at USC.

Williams stated that he has "given his all" to USC, and that is certainly true. He was given a sixth year of eligibility because of injuries and the pandemic, but he is choosing to move on to "bigger things."

Williams ends his 2023 season with 18 solo tackles, 1 INT, and 2 PD.

He will be playing in the Holiday Bowl as his final game with the Trojans, and the hope is the team can come away with a victory to cap off their season.

Losing Williams provides a substantial hole for the backend of the defensive side of the ball. The Trojans will have to replace 3 of their five starters. The additions of Humphrey and Ramsey will help, but rebuilding the secondary could be the biggest challenge for D'Anton Lynn.
